Jelly Bean Virtual Race

Today I finally got back to running! I’ve been down all week with bronchitis. Not one workout. Missed my bootcamp classes too. So I was starting to “itch” and needed to get back out there. The BRC Women’s Fit Team has their team run on Saturday mornings and after going to work yesterday, I felt I could put in some miles.

My bloggy buddy, Jess, was putting on a Jelly Bean Virtual Race this week.  I signed up last weekend when I was feeling good.  I think I put down the 5K race, but today I needed to get back to what I ran last Saturday so I decided to do the 10K.

I told myself to just take it easy and finish the miles.  My lungs felt great after doing a treatment this morning and I carried my usual cold weather cough drops.  My legs, on the other hand, had a different plan – ssslllloooooowwww (like my worst time ever at 1:33:45)!  But I didn’t care because I was out there!  I had to fight myself to keep from doing more miles.  I’m going to count this as a recovery run and hopefully get back up to speed by next Saturday.

Thanks Jess for putting on a great race!  Me and my goofy smile at the finish (where I proceeded to hack up a lung)!  Good old Pikes Peak in the background.  Also, I hope everyone has a Happy Easter!

  1. Congratulations for getting it done when you were still recovering from an illness, extremely dedicated to get up and run after that. I had like 3 weeks off when I had flu a few months ago! Maybe I’m just a wimp 😉

  2. Love this! Way to get it done!!!

I love to hear from friends!
