My Parents

I have one of those modern families. My parents divorced when I was young.  They said they couldn’t stay together anymore and had waited until we could understand what was happening.  I was 10 when mom sat us down for this discussion.  I remember it like it was yesterday.

There were difficulties between my parents as we grew up, even after the divorce.  Back and forth we went.  Each saying things about the other.  Family members getting caught up in things, still to this day.  It wasn’t an easy childhood.

Now I love my parents.  They are they people who made me who I am and I think I turned out pretty good.  Sometimes we don’t speak to each other for days…or years.  I repect them for who they are and who they will always be….my parents.

I saw this video today and I chuckled during some parts, cried during others.  It made me remember things they did for me and what I should be doing for them now.  I also want to call my grandma and listen to her stories about bowling…or whatever she wants to talk about.  Oh how she loves to gab!

For those of you whose parents are still around, I hope you pick up the phone or stop by for a visit and listen to your parents.  Someday they may not be here.  For those whose parents have passed, take a moment today to go for a walk, sit for a moment and remember the good times and bad.  Have a conversation with them…they just might be listening.
